I recently was able to get some beautiful portraits of Guinness the Golden Retriever at a backyard barbecue. He is a sweet, very soft 12 year old boy who loves to carry his favorite stuffed animal everywhere he goes. He recently lost his vision and hearing, but not his goofy spirit. One thing that struck me about Guinness' portraits is the steady gaze right into my lens, even though he can no longer see. I really believe he knew exactly what was going on. Ellie was a joy to meet and photograph. That day I learned that she knew how to do the 'hula' dance, and really, really loved her mama and her blue rubber ball. There is something about the blue and brown eye combination that is so magical and captivating.
This is a good example of an in-home session. This session took place early in the morning when light outside was harsh, with minimal open shade. In this situation, it's best to stay inside for the comfort of the pet as well as photographic conditions.Read More
